The Clough Foundation (The Foundation) is proud to be partnering with Starlight Children’s Foundation in their mission to “brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families” through supporting Starlight’s Healthier Futures Initiative in collaboration with Earbus Foundation. This collaboration creates positive healthcare experiences for children across The Pilbara, Western Australia.
Clough CEO and Foundation Director, Peter Bennet said of the newfound partnership; “I’ve always been inspired by the work that Starlight Children’s Foundation does, and see them as innovators in their sphere. As such I’m very pleased to announce this partnership, and look forward to supporting them in their endeavours to improve health clinic attendance and help enhance the community’s relationship with the healthcare system throughout Aboriginal communities in Western Australia.”
Megan Strickland, Starlight Children’s Foundation Hospital Programs Manager, said “Starlight Children’s Foundation partners with Earbus Foundation to support children and families as Earbus provides Ear Health Clinics Services in communities across the Pilbara and Goldfields. Clough’s support assists us to create positive healthcare experiences for the children and improve health outcomes in their communities.”
This collaboration is committed to reducing the incidence of chronic middle ear disease throughout Indigenous and other vulnerable rural communities in Western Australia. One of the core implications of the disease being its impediment to education, it can have catastrophic effects on these communities by entrenching poverty and lower standards of living. Through the formation of such collaborative partnerships, the prevalence of the disease should be lowered, as with the discomfort typically associated with its treatment resulting in happier, healthier communities overall.

About Starlight Children’s Foundation
Starlight’s mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill children, teenagers and their families.
Established in 1988, Starlight works closely with health professionals to develop programs that have a positive impact on seriously ill children, adolescents and their families. From one Starlight Wish granted 29 years ago, Starlight is now recognised as an integral part of the Australian healthcare system. And we are Australia’s broadest reaching children’s charity helping kids of all ages with any illness, injury or disability right across the country. Starlight is also the Most Trusted Children’s Charity in Australia. (AMR Charity Reputation Index 2016).
Starlight’s hospital and community programs embrace the principles of ‘positive psychology’ where fun plays an important role in improving overall wellbeing. We provide positive distractions from fear and pain and help sick kids create positive emotions, build resilience and develop self-esteem.
Because a child with a serious illness impacts the entire family, Starlight’s programs focus on support and care for the broader family unit. Through the power of fun and play, Starlight helps break the relentless cycle of pain and trauma for seriously ill children and their families.
